Seasons and Weather

There are 4 seasons in a year: spring, summer, autumn and winter.

  The spring months are: March, April and May. This season is especially welcome because everything awakens from its long winter sleep. The weather is getting gradually warmer, the trees are filled with new life, and the earth is warmed by the rays of the sun. The sight of the first spring flowers makes our hearts beat quicker. Like all the children I spend much time out-of-doors in spring.  

  The hottest season of the year is summer. Its months are June, July and August. In summer the sun shines brightly but sometimes there are storms with thunder, lightning and hail. After warm summer rains everything looks fresh and bright.  Everybody enjoys this beautiful season, especially children as they have the longest holidays now. For me summer is special as it is the season when nearly all members of my family (including me) have their birthdays.

  Autumn months are: September, October and November. Early autumn is very warm and beautiful, with a lot of flowers in the gardens. The grass is still green but the leaves on the trees become yellow, red and golden. People call it "Golden Autumn”. Late autumn is usually grey, colourless and sad. The days become shorter and the nights longer.

   The last season to speak about is winter. When winter comes, it becomes very cold outdoors. The rivers and lakes are frozen, the trees are bare, and the sun shines rarely. Children are fond of frosty sunny weather when they have a lot of fun playing snowballs, skiing, skating and sledging.
